  • Atlantic Park Surf is open to the public one hour before the first session and 30 minutes after the last session. To see what sessions are available click Here.

  • Pricing for a 55-minute surf session will range from $90 to $161 depending on the wave level and season. There are seven different levels and price points. Pricing will change depending on season and special events.

  • Surfers must be at least eight years old in our public sessions. If you rent out the entire lagoon for a fully private session, the minimum age can be reduced to six years old if they are capable swimmers.

  • Surfers should arrive at least 45 minutes before their surf session to allow adequate time to check-in, prepare for their session, and attend the briefing 15 minutes before the session begins.

    Disclaimer: Please arrive at least 60 minutes before your surf session for any rental needs.

  • Lagoon capacity is set to give our guests the safest and most enjoyable experience. Each level has total capacity that ranges from 20 to 40 surfers in the lagoon. Surfers will have the opportunity to catch 10-15 waves on average during each session.

  • The patented Wavegarden Cove® technology offers a revolutionary development never seen before: up to 1000 perfect waves/hour similar to those in the ocean.

    Actual wave counts are dependent on wave types. Larger waves require more time in between sets, and smaller waves require less time, for optimal lagoon and surf conditions.

  • You may purchase a Beach Pass to gain access to the park amenities, beach area, and wading pool! No swimming is allowed in the surf lagoon. All park entrants must complete a waiver before entering the park.

  • Children under three (3) do not need a beach pass to gain entry into the park.

  • Absolutely! Atlantic Park Surf has partnered with world-renowned surf shop Wave Riding Vehicles to offer surf lessons, equipment rentals, and merchandise. For all of our Beginner and Novice sessions, our CPR and lifeguard-certified coaching staff provides a beach lesson as well as guidance and support throughout the session. If you’re interested in Private Coaching at any level, you can arrange for a session with a member of our team. Whether you’re looking to ride your first wave, brush up on your skills, or take your game to the next level, our team will make it happen.

  • You may bring your own surfboard or choose from a wide selection of rental boards through the Rental Center brought to you by WRV. There will be no hardboards allowed in beginner or novice sessions. hand planes, paddle boards (Stand Up or Prone), swimming, and other non-surfing activities are prohibited in the lagoon.

  • Yes! Bodyboarding is allowed in Novice and up sessions. There is no bodyboarding allowed in Beginner sessions. Bodyboarders must wear swim fins and a leash.

  • The lagoon is only available for surfing and bodyboarding. However, park entrance does include access to our constant-depth wading pool.

  • Atlantic Park Surf will be open year-round. Anticipated closures will consist of scheduled maintenance periods and during times of inclement weather.

  • The Atlantic Park Surf lagoon temperature will be dependent on natural conditions. The lagoon will remain a refreshing temperature during Virginia Beach’s hot summers due to constant water movement paired with our coastal breeze. As the lagoon temperature cools, there will be wetsuits, boots, gloves, hoods, and hot showers available! Our wading pool is also heated in the winter!

  • Atlantic Park Surf has you covered with shade and seating, as well as a range of food and beverage options. Outside items are prohibited.

  • Visitors are encouraged to park in the City of Virginia Beach 17th Street Parking Lot in front of our entrance or in the Atlantic Park parking garages. Rates are consistent with other City of Virginia Beach parking garages. To learn more about parking in the Resort Area, please visit https://pw.virginiabeach.gov/city-property/parking/resort-area-parking. Public entrances to the garages are located on Baltic Avenue between 19th Street and 20th Street and on 20th Street between Baltic Avenue and Pacific Avenue. Additional surface parking is available at 18th Street and Arctic Avenue. Limited street parking is available throughout the Atlantic Park development.
